Genesis 15 -- more promises to Abram, the chosen one
Abram was worried. He had not fathered any children thus far, and he was already 75 years old. So what was the use of God promising Canaan to him and his descendants forever? God asks Abram for some animal sacrifices, then God promises Abram he will have plenty of descendants, not to worry. As many descendants as there are stars in the sky! Have faith! Oh, by the way, God said, those descendants will be enslaved for 400 years by their wicked neighbors, whom God will eventually punish. But not you, Abram, not to worry. Abram will die peacefully, in bed, an old man.
