Two primary tasks in life

"There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept the responsibility for changing them." -- Dr. Denis Waitle

Close, but not quite. I would say we have two primary tasks in life: (1) to accept reality as it exists, and (2) to accept responsibility for our own actions.

These aren't really choices, not in the way we can choose between vanilla and chocolate ice cream. If there is a choice here it is between accepting you live in reality and believing you live in a fantasy. Believing you can take responsibility for anything more than your own actions is a fantasy. Believing you don't have to accept reality as it exists is a fantasy.
