what gay pride means to me

But you haven't explained why "being gay is nothing anyone should be proud about."

Perhaps you mean by this that being gay is not an accomplishment, not something you had to work at. But accepting that you are gay, and loving yourself as a gay person, and giving others positive support as they struggle to accept themselves and others while living in a world of prejudice and hatred -- these accomplishments are worthy of pride.
