Why Corporations Rule the Planet
Corporations are so powerful and successful in this modern world because of one feature: limited liability. If you own a share of stock in ExxonMobil, and one of ExxonMobil's oil tankers runs aground, you personally have no liability for this disaster. Modern corporations allow the separation of liability from ownership. It's like having a personal slave who will do whatever he can to make money for you, but no matter what he does, no matter how much money he makes for you, you won't be punished. And, guess what, the slave isn't even human, he's a piece of paper that feels no pain.
